An Overview of Global Activities at Nanyang Technopreneurship Center

Nanyang Technological University, ranked amongst the top 1% of the world's universities by the Times Higher Education, places emphasis on nurturing technology-entrepreneurs through its Nanyang Technopreneurship Center (NTC). A multi-disciplinary university-level center, NTC was created to be the focal point of technopreneurship development within the University and the region, where creativity and entrepreneurship, leading to the creation of new business ventures that will provide the new engine of growth for Singapore.


Global at a glance

  • Established in 2001 with the vision to be one of the world's most influential institution for education on entrepreneurship and technology innovation, NTC’s technology-entrepreneurship pedagogy has built vibrant entrepreneurship eco-system in the region.
  • Throughout its history, the Center has been placed at the forefront of South East Asia Entrepreneurship & Innovation education and has achieved the rare accolade of being the world’s first Kauffman campus outside of United States.
  • NTC’s core competencies are in Entrepreneurship Education & Development, Entrepreneurship Consulting, Outreach Activities and Research in Entrepreneurship.
  • NTC was chosen to be part of World Entrepreneurship Forum (WEF) and appointed as a WEF Centre to lead the Junior World Entrepreneurship Forum in ASEAN. The WEF is established by EM Lyon and KPMG under the patron of Mr. Nicolas Sakorzy, President of France.


Comprehensive Academic Programs

NTC is strongly committed to technology-entrepreneurship development within the University and the region. With its unique teaching pedagogy, the Center has tailored a series of academic programs to meet and exceed average entrepreneur's requirements.

At NTC, it offers;

  • Master of Science in Technopreneurship & Innovation Program - English
  • Master of Science in Technopreneurship & Innovation Program - Mandarin
  • Technopreneurship & Innovation Executive Course
  • Minor in Entrepreneurship Program
  • Bioentrepreneurship Course

A recent survey of NTC program’s activities shows that its program (MSc TIP) has a positive impact on entrepreneurship in Singapore. Over one third of the program’s graduates start new business ventures. Others take on business-related employment, for example, joining small, medium enterprises to expand the company’s portfolio, or by working in corporate entrepreneurship in multinational corporations.


International Faculty

NTC’s international faculty consists of top educators, researchers as well as practitioners of regional corporations in diverse commercial and business backgrounds.

Each and every instructor of NTC’s academic programs has a wealth of experience and industry expertise to share. The Center also gathers distinguished professors, international, regional and national leaders to interact and address candidates of its programs.


Spreading Entrepreneurship and Innovation Culture

In line with Singapore's vision to be a global creative and entrepreneurial nation, NTC spearheads events and activities to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship and inspire the community to act on their entrepreneurial and innovative talents, ideas and energy towards establishing tomorrow's leading companies.

Events like Entrepreneurship & Innovation Week, Ideas Inc. Business Challenge, Business Plan Competition, University Entrepreneurship Speaker Series and Public Lectures are some of the Center’s initiatives to promote the development of entrepreneurship across the globe.


Worldwide Network and Support

The Center’s exceptional entrepreneurship eco-system spans the entire venture creative value chain from entrepreneurship education, research and development, to management and commercialisation.

NTC’s Master of Science in Technopreneurship & Innovation Program (MSc TIP) was chosen by Kauffman foundation and Spring Singapore in their funding schemes. Many of such partnerships allow the Center to advance entrepreneurship in Asia and continue to provide some of the best entrepreneurship programs in the world.

In Year 2008, the University was also the proud beneficiary of the S$5 million Entrepreneurship Education Fund, made possible by a gift from business leader Mr. Chua Thian Poh. The fund, together with an additional S$5 million matched by the local government, aims to foster entrepreneurship and innovation education.

Alumni of the Center’s programs are also based across continents and borders creating a wide network. Besides international business references, NTC has produced numerous successful technology-entrepreneurs and innovators who have realized their ideas and in turn become the inspiration for the next generation of budding entrepreneurs.
