FE1001 Physics I

AUs: 4, Prerequisites: GCE ‘A’ level Physics or Foundation Physics, Semesters 1 and 2
Equilibrium and elasticity. Kinematics of particles. Kinematics of rigid bodies. Fluids. Temperature and ideal gases. Laws of thermodynamics.


FE1002 Physics II

AUs: 4, Prerequisites: GCE ‘A’ level Physics or Foundation Physics, Semesters 1 and 2
Electricity. Magnetism. Optics. Quantum physics. Nuclear structure.


FE1003 Chemistry

AUs: 3, Prerequisites: NIL, Semesters 1 and 2
Basic concepts. Chemical equilibrium. Acids and bases. Electrochemistry. Reaction kinetics. Organic structure, bonding and reactions. Aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbon. Other organic families.

FE1008 Computing

Introduction to computers. C language fundamentals. Flow of control. Functions and libraries. Arrays. Basic file processing. Structured programming and quality of programs. Case studies in engineering applications.

HW001 English Proficiency

AUs: NIL, Prerequisites: Students who obtained grades A-E or A1-C6 for the GCE ‘A’ level General Paper or grades A-S for the GCE ‘A’ level Knowledge and Inquiry or passed the Qualifying English Test are exempted, Semesters 1 and 2

The course provides additional training in English Language for undergraduates whose command of the language is assessed to be inadequate. The focus of the course is on writing and oral language skills.
