Overview

Mission

Our mission is twofold: in teaching, to impart the habit and mode of thinking in science and mathematics using the most effective pedagogical methods; in research, to contribute to the scholarship of discovery, integration, application and teaching.

Vision

Our vision is to build a renowned school with strong faculty, innovative curricula, promising students, strong links with industry and supportive alumni.

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at Nanyang Technological University recognises that the most exciting sciences and challenging problems of the 21st century will move from the traditional disciplines to the interfaces of these disciplines. With alliances across traditional academic disciplines within and across schools, the School encourages an interdisciplinary culture and hones problem-solving and communication skills.

SPMS has three divisions: Chemistry and Biological Chemistry, Mathematical Sciences and Physics and Applied Physics, all of which offer graduate degrees by research leading to a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy. Research candidates work closely with their assigned supervisor.
