Higher degree programmes by research

 

Academic year 2008-2009 fees are provided in the table below. Thereafter, an annual 3% increase of their tuition fee will apply for rest of the programme for students admitted in academic year 2008-2009 or before.

 

Service obligation

From academic year 2008-2009 onwards, foreign students who pay a lesser <double check - higher or lesser> subsidized fee will need to take up a three-year service obligation and work in a Singapore-based company upon graduation. Singapore-based companies refer to local or international companies that have a base in Singapore and which are registered with the Accounting & Corporate Regulatory Authority of Singapore.

*Fees payable by SPR and international students admitted to the PhD programme at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies in academic year 2008 are S$4,480 and S$4,930, respectively. Service obligations do not apply to these students.

All fees listed are in Singapore dollars.

Research fees are exclusive of GST, which is borne by MOE.

 

Fees for each academic year must be paid in advance within the stipulated periods.

 

The research fee is payable at the beginning of each semester in August and January upon receipt of a bill from the Office of Finance.

 

New students who enroll or existing students who convert to a self-financing basis within the first half of a semester pay research fees for the entire semester. Those who do so within the second half of a semester pay research fees for half of the semester.

 

A candidate who withdraws from a programme two or more weeks after the commencement of his/her candidature or the commencement of the semester is liable to pay the fees due for the semester.

 

Those who fail to pay fees within the stipulated periods will have their names struck off the register of higher degree candidates. A person whose name has been thus struck off but who is otherwise eligible to continue his candidature will be reinstated only after he has settled all outstanding fees and paid a re-registration fee of $52.50.

 

The University's Board of Trustees reserves the right to alter fees at any time without notice.

Notes on the payment of fees

  • Every year, fees are reviewed and subject to revision. As and when fees are revised, the new fees will be applicable to all existing and new students.
  • Fees for each academic year must be paid in advance within the stipulated periods upon receipt of a bill from the Office of Finance. Only those who have registered formally with the University will receive a copy of the bill.
  • Persons who fail to pay fees within the stipulated periods will have their names struck off the register of higher degree students. A person whose name has been thus struck off but who is otherwise eligible to continue his candidature will be reinstated only after he has settled all outstanding fees and paid a re-registration fee of $52.50.
  • A student who withdraws or leaves the University two or more weeks after the commencement of his candidature or the commencement of the semester is liable to pay the fees due for the semester.
  • The University's Board of Trustees reserves the right to alter fees at any time without notice.

 

Other miscellaneous fees

The following miscellaneous fees apply to most programmes except the MBA (Nanyang Fellows), M.Sc.(Managerial Economics), Master of Public Administration and Graduate Diploma in Translation & Interpretation programmes.

  • Candidates must pay the above fees at the Office of Finance, Student Services Centre, Level 3 (Opening hours: 8.30 am to 4.45 pm, Monday to Thursday, and 8.30 am to 4.15 pm on Friday) before matriculation.
  • Candidates will be allowed to matriculate only upon payment of the above fees. The receipt must be produced as proof of payment.
  • The above miscellaneous feesare non-refundable. Candidates who withdraw from a programme after matriculationbut before the start of term are still liable for the above fees.
