Scholarships and Financial Aid

 

Research programmes

The University provides Research Scholarships to candidates with outstanding academic results to pursue higher degree studies by research on a full-time basis. The scholarship covers research and other university-related fees and includes a monthly stipend. Details at

Nanyang President's Graduate Scholarship

. Applicants must have a First Class Honours degree or equivalent at Bachelor's level and should also demonstrate excellent research abilities.

 

. No restriction as to the nationality of candidates but, all things being equal, preference will be given to Singapore citizens and Singapore permanent residents.

 

. Monthly stipend of $3,200

. Full support of tuition fees

. Priority for subsidised campus accommodation

. Conference allowance for two major overseas conferences in the 4-year period

. One-time IT allowance of $1,500

. Annual grant ofd$500 for journal subscription or book purchase

. Thesis preparation allowance

 

NTU Research

. Open to university graduates with good honours degrees who are seeking admission as full-time candidates for a higher degree by research.

 

..Only candidates with First Class Honours or Second Class (Upper Division) Honours equivalent are considered for the scholarship regardless of their citizenship.

 

. Monthly stipend of $2,000 - $2,500, depending on qualifications, experience, or performance, etc.

 

. Annual research and computer fees.

 

. It is tenable for one year in the first instance and renewable every 12 months, subject to the scholar's good progress and availability of funds.

 

Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA)

. Open to all international students and graduates with a passion for research and excellent academic results.

 

. Candidates should be in the top 20% of his cohort.

 

. Have good skills in written and spoken English. This will be determined through interview by an appointed SINGA interview Panel.

 

. Candidates must satisfy criteria for PhD admission to NTU.

 

Successful candidates will be given support for up to four years of academic pursuit, leading to a PhD degree.

 

Successful candidates will receive :

          Full tuition fee support

          Monthly stipend of $2,000 (increased to $2,500 upon confirmation)

          One-time $1,000 settling-in allowance

          One-time airfare grant of $1,500

 

Alumni

. Open to alumni and undergraduates who are children or siblings of the University's alumni.

 

. Tenable for any full-time graduate programme.

 

Each scholarship is tenable only for the academic year in which it is awarded. The value of the award is $3,000 per annum.

A*Star Graduate Scholarship

. Open to Singaporeans, Singaporean permanent residents and ASEAN nationals*

 

. Candidates must satisfy criteria for PhD admission to NUS/NTU

 

. Graduates with at least 2nd Upper Class Honours and good 'A' level results

 

. Candidates must not concurrently hold any other scholarships or fellowships

 

. Good GRE scores are required.

 

. AGS scholars are not required to do a one-year research attachment at A*STAR. They may proceed immediately for their PhD.

 

* Successful candidates who are not Singaporeans are required to take up Singapore citizenship.

 

** All candidates are encouraged to apply with their GRE test scores. Applicants without GRE test scores will still be considered butwill have to satisfy the GRE requirement beforeembarking on their PhD studies if awarded the scholarship.

Successful candidates will be given support for up to 4 years of academic pursuit.

Applications

ASEAN Graduate Scholarship

. Open to nationals of ASEAN (except Singapore) to pursue a designated full-time Master's degree by coursework and dissertation.

 

. Singapore citizens and permanent residents, and recipients of other scholarships or bursaries are not eligible to apply.

 

. Applicants should have:

(a)     an excellent academic record

(b)     a very good command of English

(c)     at least two years of working experience

(d)     an acceptable score in the GMAT for applicants of the MBA programme

(e)     been admitted or will be admitted to a designated full-time Master's programme by coursework and dissertation. There is no bond.

 

1.       Each scholarship is tenable for one year (M.Sc. and M.Mass Communication) and four trimesters (≈16 months) (MBA).

 

2.       It covers:

. Monthly stipend of $1,350

. Book allowance of $500

. Tuition fee, health insurance, examination fee and other approved fees, allowances and expenses

. Cost of one overseas Business Study Mission (for MBA candidates only) taken within the scholarship period

. Cost of return travel on successful completion of the degree within the scholarship period.

 

. Open in September/October and close at end December each year.

 

. Invitations for applications will be placed in the newspapers in the capital cities of ASEAN countries and on website

APEC

. Open to nationals of the following APEC member economies to pursue a full-time MBA programme:

Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Russia, China, Taipei, Thailand, United States, Vietnam.

 

. Singapore citizens and permanent residents, and recipients of other scholarships or bursaries are not eligible.

 

. Applicants should have:

(a)     a good bachelor's degree

(b)     at least two years of management or professional experience

(c)     proficiency in English and an acceptable score in the GMAT.

 

. There is no bond.

 

1. Each scholarship is tenable for four trimesters (≈16 months).

 

2. It covers:

. Monthly stipend of $1,400

. Book allowance of $500

. Tuition fee, health insurance, examination fee and other approved fees, allowances and expenses

. Cost of one overseas Business Study Mission taken within the scholarship period

. Cost of return travel on successful completion of the MBA programme within the scholarship period.

. Open in September/October and close at end December each year.

. Invitations for applications will be placed on website

NTU-MBA

. Open to international candidates to pursue a full-time MBA programme.

 

. Singapore citizens and permanent residents, and recipients of other scholarships or bursaries are not eligible.

 

. Selection is based on scholastic achievements, financial circumstances and other relevant factors.

 

. There is no bond. However, awardees may be called upon to assist in administrative or research work of not more than five hours per week.

 

Coverage of tuition fees for up to four trimesters.

 

Nanyang Fellows Scholarship

. Open to international candidates to pursue the full-time Nanyang Fellows MBA programme at NTU.

 

. Singaporeans and Singapore permanent residents, and recipients of other scholarships or bursaries are not eligible to apply.

 

. Applicants should:

(a) preferably have 8 years of working experience including 5 years of managerial experience;

(b) posses excellent undergraduate degrees;

(c) have demonstrated leadership qualities and potential in his/her organisation and/or community service; and

 

. a good score in TOEFL or IELTS is required for applicants from non-English speaking university.

 

. Applicants must be nominated by the head of company / organization / ministry in which the applicants is serving.

 

. There is no bond attached to the scholarship.

 

The scholarship shall provide full or partial tuition fees in NTU and MIT and the overseas business study mission, for up to one year only.

Financial aid

Candidates enrolled in research programmes or selected full-time coursework programmes are eligible to apply for a Tuition Fee Loan of up to 90% of the research/tuition fee payable by Singapore citizens. The University has appointed selected banks as agents to administer the Tuition Fee Loan Scheme.
