The group is currently working with IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown, NY, USA and Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology to jointly develop the antenna-in-package (AiP) technology for single-chip 60-GHz SiGe radio. The single-chip 60-GHz SiGe radio will revolutionize wireless communications and microwave engineering. The AiP prototype shown here operates over 60-GHz ISM band with the measured gain of 6 dBi and efficiency of 91%.

The group is currently working with Ansoft USA to jointly develop the chip-package-antenna codesign methodology. The codesign methodology will maximize the performance of wireless communications systems.

The group has successfully developed and patented five techniques for CMOS transmit/receive switch to operate at millimeter-wave frequency. The work has been accepted for publication in IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits, which is so far the only RFIC paper from Singapore that reaches the quality of this flagship journal.
