Professor Zhang
was invited to deliver the keynote speech at Antenna Systems and Short-Range
Wireless 2005 held on September 22-23 in Santa Clara, CA, USA.
The world's first differential integrated circuit package antenna (ICPA)
in LTCC for single-chip radio developed by our group has been announced to the
world. The news arose the great interests among the academia and industries
worldwide... more
The group is
currently working with IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown, NY, USA
and Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology to jointly develop the
antenna-in-package (AiP) technology for single-chip 60-GHz SiGe radio. The
single-chip 60-GHz SiGe radio will revolutionize wireless communications and
microwave engineering. The AiP prototype shown here operates over 60-GHz ISM
band with the measured gain of 6 dBi and efficiency of 91%.
The group is
currently working with Ansoft USA to jointly develop the chip-package-antenna
codesign methodology. The codesign methodology will maximize the performance of
wireless communications systems.
The group has
successfully developed and patented five techniques for CMOS transmit/receive
switch to operate at millimeter-wave frequency. The work has been accepted for
publication in IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits, which is so
far the only RFIC paper from Singapore that reaches the quality of this flagship
journal.
