Phase 1 – Technical Modules
Phase 1 consist of 3 ICD–related technical
modules of 40hrs each, to be conducted concurrently with Phase
2A, the ‘Chip Design’ phase. These modules would be rolled-out
to complement the implementation of the IC Design industrial
project.
Participants receiving WDA subsidy will be
required to an additional module within the WSQ Certified
Associate Operations Executive programme delivered by any of WDA
appointed WSQ external training providers.
Phase 2A – Chip Design
Phase 2A is a 6 months period of guided designing
in circuit schematic and geometric artwork according to industry
standards. During this phase, participants are able to carry out
the actual industrial projects from their organisations. This phase also includes the verification and
stimulation stages of the design project. Subsequently, the
design will undergo fabrication.
Phase 2B – Measurement & Characterisation
Phase 2B is a product measurement and
characterisation phase that will last 3 months. The fabricated
IC prototype or the packaged IC is subject to rigorous
electrical and functional measurement and testing on top of
specification checks with state-of-the-art equipment.
The entire course will last 9 months. For the
first 6 months (phase 1 and Phase 2A), participants are required
full-time to attend the technical modules and work on the
industry-related projects under the supervision of NTU
Professors in VIRTUS Centre. For the last 3 months (Phase 2B),
participants are allowed to work part-time (during evenings or
weekends) to complete their troubleshooting, testing and
measurements of their fabricated chip.
