IEEE TEVC Special Issue on "Multi-task Evolutionary Computation "Call for Papers", Guest Editors: Abhishek Gupta, Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology, Singapore, Yew-Soon Ong, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, Kenneth De Jong, George Mason University, USA, Mengjie Zhang, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. Submission open: May 1, 2020, Submission Deadline: November 1, 2020. Frontiers in Neuroscience: Cognitive Multitasking: Towards Augmented Intelligence, In Press 2020. Co-edited with Liang Feng, Huajin Tang and Will Browne. In response to this special issue's call for papers, we have 58 in potential contributors in total, reflecting the vigor and health of this research field. Given the volume of papers received, we were able to accept only the top 11 most outstanding submissions for publication. New Book on 'Memetic Computation: The Mainspring of Knowledge Transfer in a Data-Driven Optimization Era','Memetic Computation: The Mainspring of Knowledge Transfer in a Data-Driven Optimization Era'. Abstract:This book bridges the widening gap between two crucial constituents of computational intelligence: the rapidly advancing technologies of machine learning in the digital information age, and the relatively slow-moving field of general-purpose search and optimization algorithms. With this in mind, the book serves to offer a data-driven view of optimization, through the framework of memetic computation (MC). In response to this 'Memetic Algorithms' special issue's call for papers, we received an unprecedented number of submissions, 54 in total, reflecting the vigor and health of this research field. Each of this submissions was rigorously reviewed by at least three independent reviewers. Given the volume of papers received, we were able to accept only the top 10 most outstanding submissions. Thus many papers that did not make it into the special issue were still of very good quality. The papers that appear in this special issue reflect the state-of-the-art in research, development, and application of memetic algorithms to a wide range of relevant topics and applications.
