Biography
Dr. Shen Zhiqi obtained BSc in Peking Univ., MEng in Beijing Univ. of Technology, and PhD in Nan. Tech. Univ. respectively. From Sep. 1989 to Feb. 1993, he worked as Systems Analyst/Technical Manager at Beijing Stone Computer Systems Co. in China. From Mar. 1993 to Apr. 1994, he worked as Software Engineer in Siemens (Pte) Ltd in Singapore. From May 1994 to May 1996, he worked as Oracle Database Consultant in Strategic Information Systems Pte. Ltd. (SIS). From Jun. 1996 to Nov. 2000, he worked as Senior Research Engineer at I2R (Institute for InfoComm Research). From Dec. 1999 to Jan. 2003, he worked as Senior Engineer at Mobile Data Solutions, Inc. (MDSI) in Canada. From Apr. 2004 to Aug. 2004, he worked as Technical Consultant at System Access Pte Ltd in Singapore. From Aug. 2004 to Aug. 2005, Dr. Shen worked as Research Fellow at MC3 (Managed Computing Competency Center) of NTU. From Sep. 2005 to Feb. 2007, he worked as Research Fellow at Information Communication Institute of Singapore (ICIS) of School of EEE at NTU; from Mar. 2007 to Dec. 2011, he worked as Teaching Fellow in the same school. From Dec. 2011 to Apr. 2016, Dr. Shen worked as Senior Research Scientist in School of Computer Science and Engineering, NTU.
I am currently a Senior Research Scientist at School of Computer Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University. I was also a Visiting Processor at Professor Victor Lesser’s MultiAgent System (MAS) Lab, UMASS.
Prior to my current appointment, I worked for both R&D department in industry and national research institute including MDSI Canada, Siemens Singapore and I2R as a Senior Research Engineer where I successfully designed a number of large scale innovative web systems and search engine such as the well-known World Chinese Business Network initiated by Minister Mentor (MM) Lee Kuan Yew and Singapore Immigration name search engine. The agent based game engine developed based on my PhD research has attracted much attention from both research and industrial communities and has been presented at AAMAS 2006, ACM Entertainment Conference 2006 and Microsoft Game conference 2006 & 2007. Now our focus has been on exploring intelligent agent-augmented virtual environments and serious games as the main research paradigm for designing future learning environments and active living for elderly.
