The Robotics Research Centre (RRC) was established in May 1994 with a start up fund of S$1.68 million. The RRC is jointly managed and funded by the School of Applied Science (SAS), the School of Mechanical & Production Engineering (MPE) and the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) of the Nanyang Technological University. | The main laboratory |
The main objectives of the RRC are:
to consolidate, focus and accelerate robotic research activities within the University; to bring together researchers and lecturers in the area of robotics into a conducive environment equipped with state-of-the-art research facilities; to coorporate with industrial partners and government agencies in fields of strategic importance to robotics; to provide consultancy services to local industry in robotics and relate areas.
Surgeon Assisted Robot | The RRC vigorously promotes graduate research in the area of robotics and its related disciplines. The centre currently supports over 10 graduate programmes in the areas of autonomous vehicle navigation, medical robotics, real-time machine vision and collaborative robotic tasks. External research funding awarded during its first year of operation amounted to an additional S$1.21 million.
