Graduate Fellowship
at SMART
• The Ministry of Education has recently launched a
prestigious SMA Graduate Fellowship. These
4-year SMA Graduate Fellowships are available for
highly talented doctoral graduate education and
research for students from Nanyang Technological
University (NTU) and National University of S’pore
(NUS) who wish to conduct their research at
SMART Centre.
* Selection of candidates will take place twice a year,
in time for the start of the August & Jan semesters.
• Available for full-time Ph.D students who wish to
conduct their research at Singapore-MIT Alliance
for Research and Technology (SMART) Centre.
• No bond is required.
Application period for Jan 2012 intake: 17 May 2011
to 17 July 2011

(SINGA)
• International student seeking admission to pursue a
full-time PhD programme at NTU.
• Open to all international students and graduates
with a passion for research and excellent academic
results.
• Applicant must be in the top 20% of his cohort.
• Good skills in written and spoken English.
• Good reports from two academic referees.
* There is no bond attached to the scholarship.
• Full tuition fees.
• Monthly stipend of $2,000 (increased to
$2,500 upon confirmation).
• One-time $1,000 settling-in allowance.
• One-time airfare grant of $1,500.
• Successful candidates will receive a
monthly stipend, full tuition fees, and
other compulsory fees and allowances
for attending both local and international
conferences.
• Monthly stipend of $3,100 - $3,300 per
month.
• Conference support of up to $4,000 per
year.
• The sponsorship period is up to 4 years.
DSO PhD Research
Award
Singaporean (Pink NRIC).
Open to fields of study relevant to engineering and
science.
Must have obtained a 1st class or 2nd upper
(honours) Bachelor’s degree.
Must apply to NTU for PhD program.
The award is bond free.
The award is tenable for 1 year in the first
instance; but subject to the Fellow’s
satisfactory progress, it may be renewed
annually. The maximum period of award
is 4 years.
Cover all tuition fees and other
compulsory fees.
Stipend of S$3,200 per month.
A travel grant of S$12,000 to help cover
the expenses with a six-month research
residency at MIT.
The award is for up to 4 years of PhD
studies.
Conduct research in one of the existing
SMART Interdisciplinary Research
Groups (IRGs)
Infectious Diseases
Successful candidates can take up a
two-year post-doctoral fellowship (PDF)
in one of the top overseas universities or
research laboratories in the scholar’s
chosen field.
Upon completion of the post doctoral
fellowship, candidates will return to
contribute to A*STAR Research Institutes
(RIs) for a service commitment period of
up to 3 years.
