Welcome to the Website of Dr. Qin Xiaosheng!

My research focuses on development and application of systems analysis approaches for addressing regional environmental and water resources issues.

RESEARCH AREAS

1. Hydrological Modelling and Extreme Weather Analysis

I specialize in employing advanced modeling techniques to understand hydrological systems and analyze the impacts of extreme weather phenomena. This encompasses integrated hydrological and flood modeling, copula-based analysis of extreme events, and the development of innovative frequency analysis tools, mostly tailored to address the specific considerations pertinent to the regions of Singapore and Southeast Asia.

2. Climate Change Impact Assessment and Adaptative Planning

I am also interested in exploring the repercussions of climate change and developing strategic plans for effective adaptation. This mainly involves the development of advanced climate data assimilation methods, regional climate downscaling techniques, bias-correction methods and risk assessment techniques to strategically address the challenges posed by climate change.

3. Water Resources and Environmental Systems Planning

My expertise extends to devising innovative methodologies for enabling cost-effective management strategies for water resources and environmental systems amidst complexities and uncertainties. This includes the development of advanced inexact optimization techniques, along with simulation-based optimization methods tailored for urban sustainable infrastructure design and groundwater remediation management.
