Welcome to the Website of Dr. Qin Xiaosheng!

My research focuses on development and application of systems analysis approaches for addressing regional environmental and water resources issues.

RESEARCH AREAS

1. Extreme Weather and Climate Hazard Analysis

My research examines extreme weather events, including extreme rainfall, droughts, and heatwaves, using both historical records and climate change projections. I apply advanced statistical and hydrological modeling approaches, including integrated hydrological and flood modeling, copula based extreme value analysis, and frequency analysis, to characterize climate hazards in Singapore and Southeast Asia.

2. Climate Change Impact on Water, Energy, and Environmental Systems

I conduct climate change impact assessments across interconnected systems, with particular emphasis on the water and energy sectors. This work involves climate data assimilation, regional climate downscaling, bias correction techniques, and risk assessment methods to quantify climate driven changes and system vulnerabilities.

3. Water and Environmental Systems Planning, Management, and Adaptation

My research also addresses the planning and management of water resources and environmental systems under complexity. This includes water supply and demand analysis, water energy nexus dynamics, uncertainty analysis, and the optimization of urban drainage systems. These approaches support climate adaptation planning, including the development of climate resilient drainage systems and water sensitive urban design strategies.
