Project: Novel Cardiac Minimally Invasive Surgery

 

This project aims to develop new digital solutions for cardiac diagnose and treatment with the aid of Virtual Reality technology.

Project:   Cellular Confocal Imaging and Volumetric Image Processing

 

This project aims to investigate new 3D techniques of volumetric confocal image processing for cell biology application.

This project works on complex surface modeling and their applications including rational Bezier surface (for protein modeling), H-NURBS (for digital media), and minimal surface, etc.

Project:  Visualization and Analysis of Cellular Confocal Images 

 

This project develops new VR-enhanced visualizaiton and interactive techniques for confocal based cellular image processing.

2004-2008 Project: 1st Phase Drug Clinical Trial Design

In collaboration with National Cancer Center (Singaproe) and Shefield University (UK), this project aimed to design new algorithms and develop new software for drug 1st phase clinical trial design.A paper on Bayesian dose finding design for dual endpoint Phase I trials was published in Journal Statistics in Medicine (Wiley). A software was also developed under trial use in National Cancer Center.

2000-2002

Project: Development of an Intranet Solution of Online Grant Submission, Peer-review and Project Management

 

In collaboration with Singapore National Medical Research Council (NMRC), this project aimed to design and implement an online system for grant application, peer-review and project management. The solution was deployed in NMRC. A paper was published in  International Journal of Computer Applications in Technology (World Scientific,).

 

2000-2005

Project: Research on Cardiovascular Disease

 

In collaboration with National Heart Center (Singapore) and Medical Hospital of Beijing University (China), this project aimed to investigate the human cardiovascular disease.

 

1999-2006

Project:  Simulation of Vascular Intervention and Customized Device Design and Prototyping 

 

In collaboration with John Hopkins Medical School (USA), SolidWorks (USA) and Zhejiang University (China), and Kent Ridge Digital Lab (Singapore), this project aimed to develop new algorithms for geometric modeling of human vasculature, new methods for customized interventional device design and prototyping. Three patents from the project were granted or pending approval. Several papers resulting from this research were published in the leading journals including Computer-aided Geometry Design (Elsevier), International Journal of Robotics and Automation ( IASTD), Computers & Graphics (Pergamon),  Journal of Computing and Information Science in Engineering (ASME), Computers in Biology and Medicine (Pergamon).
