An image-sequence showing how flow past a dimple can lead to asymmetric "tornado-like" vortex-flow within the dimple. Note the scale of the vortex in relation to the dimple size. Each grid measured 10mm, free stream was from left to right and experiment was carried out in a low speed water tunnel. (New and Lim, 2004) |
