IERC is designing and develop new production pipelines and mthodologies for innovating traditional cel aniomation into a fully digital process that can save significant time in the productrion. IERC artists, Anil Damodoran, Cao Youfang and Eddie Ching help to push the new software technologies to a state of functionallity and commercial viability.

Our animation production project is a joint-venture between Anime International Company (AIC) in Tokyo, Nanyang Technological University, School of Computer Engineering (SCE) Singapore and Mr. Johnny Lau, creator of Singapore best selling comics character Mr Kiasu.

CACAni, a revolutionary tool for the automated production of 2D cell animation developed in the School of Computer Engineering. The technology is built upon the innovative Disk and Ball B-Spine that controls disk/ball instead of control point in B-Spline curves and surfaces. DBBS can represent freeform shapes as well as their internal structures and their skeletons. The algorithms in DBBS is used for automation of intermediate frames in animation, flexible shape and stroke manipulation, solid mathematical fundamentals on evaluation, efficient transmission and storing with small datasets, and is extensible to 3D curve and surfaces.

“Justeen” is a new amime series to be broadcast in Japan in 2008. IERC collaborates on the animation production, pipeline design and the develop of CACAni as a functional toolset for revolutionizing the 2D cell animation industry.
