Introduction
Nanyang Technological University (NTU) invites outstanding researchers with a PhD degree
in science and technology to apply for the prestigious Temasek Research Fellowship (TRF) awards.

Key Features
The TRF scheme provides selected young and promising scientists to conduct and lead research
that is relevant to defence in Singapore/NTU. It offers:

  • Independence to pursue a research career in Singapore
  • A 3-year flexible research grant of up to S$1 million that commensurate with the scope of work, with an option to extend up to a further 3 years
  • Possible conversion to tenure-track appointment at the end of the TRF
    • Tenure-track position will be offered with the TRF award if the candidate meets the required criteria for tenure track appointment by the university. Please check the relevant box in the research application form for the type of position you’re applying for.
  • Attractive and competitive remuneration

Research Areas
The TRF fellow may conduct research at Temasek Laboratories or other research entity at NTU.

The research areas for TRF 2016 are provided below:

Candidates with relevant post-doctoral experience in the above research areas and are prepared to lead a research project as Principal Investigator are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility
Outstanding scientists and researchers in the relevant discipline of science or technology from a reputable university are eligible to apply for the TRF. Candidate must possess a PhD degree AND postdoctoral working experience. PhD degree must have been conferred at the point of the submission of application.

Research project proposals which are already funded by other agencies or being considered for funding by other agencies are not eligible for funding under the TRF Scheme. The TRF fellow shall not apply for other funding support, unless approval has been given by the TRF funding agency.

Application Period
The TRF grant call will be open from 1 July 2016 to 23 Sept 2016.

Application and Deadline details
Please complete the forms included in the application package and provide the required documents in the relevant order.

All documents must be provided in English and submitted in the Word format unless stated otherwise. All translated documents will need to be duly certified.

Required documents:

  1. TRF personal particulars form
  2. Detailed curriculum vitae containing the following information:
  • H-index
  • number of citations
  • all publications (indicate impact factor where possible)
  • number of Masters/ PhD students supervised
  •   3. Certificates – Basic and post graduate qualifications including detailed transcripts of grades/ scores (PDF format)
      4. At least 3 recent international referee reports (Word or PDF format). Referee reports must be emailed directly to rso-trf@ntu.edu.sg with the candidate name noted in the subject field
    5. TRF research application form

    Do utilise the checklist provided to ensure all required documents have been submitted.
    Incomplete submissions will not be accepted.

    Review Process
    Applicants will be shortlisted by a TRF Review Panel.

    Shortlisted candidates will be invited to Singapore in Feb/March 2017 to present their research plans, meet local researchers and identify potential collaborators.

    Shortlisted applicants from outside Singapore will receive an allowance to cover travel and accommodation expenses.

    Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
