Introduction
The Nanyang Technological University (NTU) invites outstanding researchers with a PhD
degree in science and technology to apply for the prestigious TRF awards.

Key Features
The TRF scheme provides selected young and promising scientists to conduct and lead
research that is relevant to defence in Singapore/NTU. It offers:

  • independence to pursue a research career in Singapore
  • a 3 year flexible research grant that commensurate with the scope of work, with an option to
    renew up to 3 years
  • attractive and competitive remuneration
  • possible conversion to tenure-track academic appointment with NTU at the end of the TRF

Research Areas
The TRF-RF may conduct research at Temasek Laboratories or other research entity at NTU.

The research areas for TRF 2011 are provided below:

Candidates with relevant post-doctoral experience in the above research areas and are prepared to lead a research project as Principal Investigator are encouraged to apply. Other fundamental areas of science or technology, where a breakthrough would be of interest to defence and security, will also be considered.

Eligibility
Outstanding scientists and researchers with a Ph.D degree in the relevant discipline of science or technology from a reputable university, are eligible to apply for the TRF.

Research project proposals which are already funded by other agencies or being considered for funding by other agencies are not eligible for funding under the TRF Scheme. The TRF-RF shall not apply for other funding support, unless approval has been given by the TRF funding agency.

Application Period
The TRF grant call will be opened from 24 Oct 2011 to 10 Feb 2012.

1. On Candidate

  a. NTU Personal Particulars Form in Word format
  b. Detailed Curriculum Vitae (including complete publication listing, Additional Information, i.e. Number of Masters/ PhD Students supervised, H-index, number of publications and number of citations) in Word format
  c. Certificates – Basic and post graduate qualifications including detailed transcripts of grades/ scores in PDF format
  d. At least 3 recent international referee reports in either Word or PDF format

2. On Research Proposal

  a. TRF Application Form – Research Plan in Word format
  b. Abstract of previous research accomplishments (list titles and references of published works and work in process, patents, papers presented at conferences, etc) in Word format

Applicants will be shortlisted by a TRF Review Panel. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to Singapore in May 2012 to present their research plans, meet local researchers and identify potential collaborators.
