The Industrial Attachment with Motorola Manufacturing System-Asia has provided me with much valuable knowledge and experience, which cannot be obtained through the courses taught at the University. These include social skills especially when dealing with vendors, team working, ability to meet the deadline of project and fulfilling customer requirements etc. The company gave room for me to develop my creativity and provided the exposure to the real-life engineering application in industry.

All the tangible benefits and intangible knowledge acquired from the Industrial Attachment have reinforced the technical knowledge learned from textbooks and improved my understanding in the engineering field.

The use of Pro/ENGINEER in machine design and computer technology in office automation has greatly improved the the productivity and efficiency of machine design development. This state-of-the-art computer cum technical skill is very helpful in my NTU assignments and my future prospects.

The period of time in assisting Engineer Tan to source for the machine components and determine cost estimation have definitely provided me with the experience in sourcing capability. In addition, I was made to realise the impact of a proper selection of standard parts and an optimized design of fabricated parts on the cost of machine through one of the projects on cost reduction.

Although the projects assigned were mainly mechanical, the automation project in the company has served as a very good training ground where the students like myself could experience how a number of diversified  engineering fields such as process control, software, electrical, electronics and mechanical engineering used to go hand in hand to achieve certain objectives or desired outcomes.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to the mechanical engineers in MMSA, especially Mr. Tan Peng Yaw and my NTU tutor A/P Sim Siang Kok for their unrivalled, synergistic and conscientious efforts in making this Industrial Attachment Programme most enlightening, challenging and memorable. Last but not least, I would like to extend my appreciation to all colleagues in MMSA who in one way or another made my IA a rewarding and fruitful experience.
