The first two phases are usually termed "instructor centered" -- essentially, the information is presented and you are the observer.  But even during these phases, CBT Systems uses "discovery" questions to involve you with the narrative as much as possible.  (Think of them as questions from your instructor to make sure you are grasping the concepts.)

Discovery questions encourage you to think about the material and anticipate the correct answer. The screens that follow these questions reinforce the learning points.
