Julius Cesar I. Trajano is Senior Analyst with the Centre for Non-Traditional Security (NTS) Studies at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

Julius holds an MSc in Asian Studies from NTU, which awarded him the ASEAN Graduate Scholarship (2011). He also has a BA in Social Sciences (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of the Philippines, Manila (2006).

Prior to joining the Centre, he served as Senior Analyst in the Dean’s Office at RSIS, where he was tasked to write quarterly policy papers on political, security and socioeconomic issues in Southeast Asia. He also previously worked as an editorial assistant at the Manila-based Vibal Publishing House, where he was involved in several publication projects on history and politics in the Philippines and Asia.

His research interests include human security, with emphasis on political and economic security, ethnic conflicts and separatism, energy security, democratisation issues, development studies, and security issues in the Asia-Pacific. He has contributed op-ed articles to the RSIS Commentaries series, East Asia Forum and Asia Times Online.
