Margareth Sembiring is Research Analyst with the Centre for Non-Traditional Security (NTS) Studies at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

Margareth holds an MA in International Peace and Security from King’s College London (2012). She also has a master’s degree from the Indonesian Defense University, Jakarta (2011), and a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore (2004).

Her research interests encompass both non-traditional security issues, including energy and internal and cross-border conflict, and traditional security in the Asia-Pacific. Prior to joining the Centre, she served an internship with the Democratic Progress Institute in London where she researched extensively on global conflicts. She also gave a presentation on ‘Indonesia and Asia-Pacific Security’ at Chatham House, London, in 2012 which she subsequently extended into a master’s thesis.
