Centre Researcher Identified as one of 50 Malay/Muslim Individuals to Influence 2011

RSIS Centre for NTS Studies Associate Research Fellow, Sofiah Jamil, was identified by Singapore’s Malay language newspaper, Berita Harian, as one of 50 Malay/Muslim individuals expected to drive the community's progress in 2011. These individuals include professionals from the public and private sectors as well as politicians, religious leaders, scientists, entrepreneurs, athletes and artists.

The article noted that Sofiah is an expert on issues related to the environment and climate change and is a member of the US Institute on the Environment, a programme under the US State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It noted as well that she is expected to play a more active role in addressing issues related to the environment and climate change at the community and national level in the new year.
