Sports and Leisure
NTU and NIE both have excellent sports facilities and
foster an active, athletic community.
Students-&-staff:
The Sports and Recreation Centre (S &
RC) organize their teams, clubs etc.
Staff:
Staff and their families can also use the
Sports and Recreational Centre facilities, subject to booking them in the
appropriate manner. If you want to join a sports club, ask the leader of
the club by calling (number is available from the office) or asking them in
person when you see them training. There is a group of boys who live in
staff housing who have joined various martial arts clubs and enjoy the training
and the convenient location. Here is a list of activities open for the
families:

Facilities that may be used by staff and their families include:
NTU grounds:
These
are not generally used by the public as much, but if you want to rent any of
the following, you may contact the concerned staff.
The Staff Recreational Club
offer facilities for booking and organize fitness classes, sports activities,
short trips, lunch talks and workshops.
Staff and immediate family members of staff may use
the facilities and join the activities, but priority and cheaper rates are
given to members of the SRC. When a course opens, an email goes out to staff,
so let your partner working at NTU/NIE know if you are interested in a course,
so that they may forward the email quickly. Courses popular for women
offered at lunch tend to fill up within an hour. Openings for courses are
also advertised to those who are on the NanyangConnect list server.
Otherwise, there are always updates on their website.
The Staff Club has a gym available to staff and their
families which has a fully equipped gym and shower facilities. Membership
terms apply. They also have a lounge with live music, KTV rooms, pool and rent
out different sized rooms for functions and workshops.
