Prof. Lu Yilong - Biographic Sketch

LU Yilong received the B.Eng degree from Harbin Institute of Technology in 1982, the M.Eng degree from Tsinghua University in 1984, and the PhD degree from University College London (UCL) in 1991, respectively. After receiving his PhD degree, he joined Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, in 1991, where he has been a full Professor in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering since 2006.

Dr. Lu's research interests include radar systems, antennas, array signal processing, radar signal/data processing, radar imaging, smart sensing with machine learning, and evolutionary computation for optimization of complex engineering problems. Dr. Lu has authored/co-authored more than 370 international journal and conference papers.

Dr Lu is a recipient of 2012 IEEE AP-S Schelkunoff Prize Paper Award, twice Excellent Paper Awards from 2006 and 2011 International Radar Conferences, an Excellent Paper Award from 2019 Asia-Pacific Conference on Synthetic Aperture Radar, and the Best Paper Award from 2019 IEEE International Conference on Signal, Information and Data Processing.

Dr Lu is an IEEE Fellow, is serving for some professional duties at IEEE level and society levels, including IEEE Medal and Recognition Committee, IEEE Fellow Evaluation Committee and the International Director (Singapore) for IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society, and Field Award Committee for IEEE Antenna and Propagation Society. He is also a member of Editorial Board for IET Radar, Sonar & Navigation. In the past, he served as the General Chair for 2009 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference, the TPC Chair for 2015 Asia-Pacific Conference on Synthetic Aperture Radar Conference, the Chairman (2016) for IEEE MTT/AP Singapore Joint Chapter, and the Chairman (2018-2019) for IEEE AES/GRS Singapore Joint Chapter.
