Abstract
Optoelectronic devices such as photoconductive switches have wide applications
in electronic switching, waveform generation, optical detection, and broadband
circuit characterization. In this project, the students will characterize
the ultrafast electrical transients produced by a special type of optoelectronic
device based on numerical modelling and simulation using 2D/3D device simulation
tools. Various physical and device parameters influencing the generated
electrical pulse will be investigated, from which the optimum design can
be predicted. Through the project, the students will learn state-of-the-art
TCAD tools in optoelectronic device design and analysis.
