Short Biodata

Bu Sung Lee received his B.Sc. (Hons) and PhD from the Electrical and Electronics Department, Loughborough University of Technology, UK in 1982 and 1987 respectively. He is currently an Associate Professor with the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University. He currently holds the position as Director, International Networks at National SuperComputing Center(Singapore). Bu-Sung Lee was the founding Director, Service Platform Lab, HP Labs(Singapore) 2010-2012.

Bu-Sung Lee has been actively involved with the deployment of advanced networks in Singapore and the region. He is the founding President of Singapore Advanced Research and Education Network (SingAREN) in 2003-2007, and currently a committee member. He is the current Chair of the Board of advisors of Trans EurAsia Information Network Cooperation Center (TEIN*CC). He is also a Steering Committee member of the Asi@connect project, with a grant of Euro 22 million, which is focused on developing a pervasive high speed network for the research and education community in the Asia-Pacific region and capacity building for the less developed countries.

Bu-Sung Lee has been actively involved with student education. He is initiator for setting up the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence lab sponsored by AMD. The laboratory supports the undergraduate DS & AI course. In addition, he is the advisor to the NTU teams participating in Student Cluster Competitions held in Europe, Asia, and USA. He has guided the team to consistent success at Student Cluster competitions, in particular at SC’17 at Denver, USA where the NTU Team won the Overall Champion and Highest Linpack Award.
