SC202 Announcements

General Announcements

  1. Lectures - there will be a total of 39 hours of lectures, which will be delivered by Associate Professor Goh Wooi Boon (Tel: 7904611). SC202 lectures will be conducted at LT20 and LT8. Lecture slots are as follows: Mondays at 10.30am{LT20} & 2.30pm{LT20}, Wednesdays at 10.30am{LT20} & 3.30pm{LT8} and Fridays at 8.30am {LT20} & 1.30pm{LT20}.
  2. Tutorials - will begin on the second week of the semester. There will be a total of nine tutorials to be done over 12 weeks. Tutorial reps should be able to collect the full set of tutorials from the General Office at the start of the semester. Students are strongly advised to attempt the tutorial questions before discussion in the tutorial class.
  3. Laboratory - There will be a total of 5 experiments to be done on an individual basis (except Expt. #5, which will be conducted in pairs). Each student is expected to keep his or her own logbook and they are to be stamped by the technician after each experiment. All SC202 experiments will be conducted at the Computer Engineering (CE) Lab. on the 1stfloor of SCE.
  4. Laboratory Quiz - Students will be given a short review assessment before the end of each experiment to assess their comprehension level of the experiment. The quiz will last for 10 minutes. You are strongly encouraged to note down all your experimental observations, results and analysis into your logbook as you are free to use your logbook during the quiz.
  5. Coursework Marks - the mark for the coursework component of SC202 is derived from your average score on all the laboratory quizzes. You are reminded that failure in the coursework component will result in you being barred from sitting for the final examination. So do take your laboratory sessions seriously and make appropriate preparation before going into the lab.
  6. Lecture Handouts - a set of the overhead transparencies used during the lectures will be given to the lecture rep in the first week for duplication. You are strongly advised to supplement this handout with note taking. Some ad hoc examples will be used during lectures and they will not be found in the handout.
