Intelligent wireless systems powered by AI and machine learning
A. S. Madhukumar works in the area of intelligent wireless communication systems, where his interests include AI- and machine-learning-driven wireless networks, edge-native computing with ultra-low-latency links, smart resource allocation, and interference-aware network design. He also explores high-capacity communications using free-space optics and terahertz waves, along with next-generation signal processing techniques for future 6G systems. Over the course of his career, he has published more than 350 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. His contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the Nanyang Award for Teaching Excellence in 2007 and Best Paper Awards at major IEEE conferences in 2016, 2017, and 2023.
Dr. Madhukumar earned his B.Tech from the College of Engineering, Trivandrum, his M.Tech from the Cochin University of Science and Technology, and his Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Madras. He is currently a faculty member in the College of Computing and Data Science at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Before joining NTU, he worked on communications and signal processing research at the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (Electronics R&D Centre) in India and at the Institute for Infocomm Research (Centre for Wireless Communications) in Singapore. He is also a Senior Member of the IEEE.
