I bought my first CD player, Marantz CD-63SE, based on the recommendation of one writer of Sound & Sight Journal on the eve of Christmas in 95 to listen Dadawa's "Sister Drum" CD. After using the cheap Sony portable headphone for 1 month plus, I bought NAD 302 integrated amp and PSB Alpha speaker, also recommended by the same writer for an entry level hi-fi system. However, I have upgraded to Triangle Antal Es, YBA Integral, Musical Fidelity DAC A324 and Marantz CD-17 Mk III. I also sent my CD-63SE for modification by TS Lim. But to my surprise, I always use CD-63SE as my source. That means the DAC and the new player does not really sound that great to me, I still can enjoy music with the cheap CD-63SE, of course I believe the modification is really wonderful. June 2022, time for a new look! |
