Dear Students,

Singapore's healthcare industry has witnessed tremendous growth and transformation over the years, offering a wide range of fulfilling and dynamic career opportunities. The industry continues to adapt to significant emerging trends such as: Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning, where processes are being streamlined to enhance the overall efficiency of patient care. Moreover, with aging population and the increasing recognition of mental health’s pivotal role in overall well-being, aspiring students like you who are keen to pursue a career in Healthcare can tap on numerous opportunities to serve in these areas as well.

At Healthcare Scholarships, we have a vast array of scholarships that are applicable to students. As you are currently studying at NTU, you may wish to apply for our postgraduate scholarships.

The Healthcare Graduate Studies Award (HGSA) is a postgraduate scholarship awarded to individuals who are keen to join the public healthcare sector while demonstrating academic excellence and community spirit. Scholars will join a team of healthcare professionals providing direct care to patients, or work with policy makers and IT systems professionals to improve the Singapore public healthcare system. You can pick from courses of study such as Nursing, Public Health, Business/Data Analytics, Clinical Psychology and more.

If you’re interested to learn more about HGSA, come talk to our scholars during our information session on the 3rd November 2023. For more information and registration, click here.

Staff Nurse (Department of Emergency Med)

Singapore General Hospital

I’m sure many of you might relate to my story. I enrolled into NTU’s Chemistry and Biological Chemistry course based on my subject of interest, without giving much thought to my future or career.

My interest in healthcare only grew after I personally experienced how one’s medical knowledge can benefit people closest to you. Eventually, I decided to pursue a career in healthcare, applied for the Healthcare Graduate Studies Award and was given the opportunity to study nursing.

I was granted the chance to study Master of Nursing Science at the University of Melbourne which made it possible for me to connect with many awesome Iike-minded nurses. While studying, I was exposed to many fields of nursing, including medical-surgical, geriatrics, emergency, pediatrics peri-operative, oncology, and rural health. I must say that studying abroad broadened my exposure to different healthcare systems and technologies, making it useful as well when applied to Singapore’s healthcare.

I am currently working in the Singapore General Hospital’s Emergency Department. Although the work is demanding, it can be extremely fulfilling when patients thank you for your hard work. There are also endless opportunities to learn as medical knowledge and technologies are always advancing, which makes working in healthcare, pretty exciting!
