❝ I’m sure many of
you might relate to my story. I enrolled into NTU’s Chemistry and
Biological Chemistry course based on my subject of interest, without giving
much thought to my future or career.
My interest in
healthcare only grew after I personally experienced how one’s medical
knowledge can benefit people closest to you. Eventually, I decided to
pursue a career in healthcare, applied for the Healthcare Graduate Studies
Award and was given the opportunity to study nursing.
I was granted
the chance to study Master of Nursing Science at the University of
Melbourne which made it possible for me to connect with many awesome
Iike-minded nurses. While studying, I was exposed to many fields of
nursing, including medical-surgical, geriatrics, emergency, pediatrics
peri-operative, oncology, and rural health. I must say that studying abroad
broadened my exposure to different healthcare systems and technologies,
making it useful as well when applied to Singapore’s healthcare.
I am currently
working in the Singapore General Hospital’s Emergency Department. Although
the work is demanding, it can be extremely fulfilling when patients thank
you for your hard work. There are also endless opportunities to learn as
medical knowledge and technologies are always advancing, which makes
working in healthcare, pretty exciting!❞
