Dear Students,

I figure you must be hearing a lot about Generative AI and its potential impact on your career at this time. Allow me to share a quick recap on my background, so you can gain insight from my perspective on things. Currently, my day-time job involves being a trainer, mentor, and consultant in the field of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, I have co-founded and actively manage tech communities here in Singapore.

Certainly, the latest hot topic is Generative AI, including that of ChatGPT & Bard in the text space; as well as Stable Diffusion & Midjourney in the image space.

Like any new tool, Generative AI has sparked uncertainty and concerns about jobs such as content creators being replaced. However, in my opinion, I highly doubt that replacement will happen. Instead, I strongly believe in the concept of “Augmented Intelligence”. Content creators can now use these Generative AI models to generate a “base” content, which they can skilfully edit with their trained competency to enhance and create a unique and impactful piece of work.

Moreover, it helps individuals like me, who cannot paint/draw or have lousy writing skills, create reasonably good images or text content easily. Thus, I foresee there will be a “content explosion”, leading the market to hit a new equilibrium where content creation is now more accessible and made easier for more people. It is then up to the individual to become better at curating and processing content, to grow their knowledge and wisdom.

How about your thoughts on Prompt Engineer or Prompt Engineering? Personally, I view “Prompt Engineer” as a hyped job, which I do not believe in. However, I do believe in the strength of Prompt Engineering, as we have all done something similar when using search engines. Think about it – not too sure? If you would like to delve deeper into this topic, drop me a message on LinkedIn to discuss further.

I have started my personal newsletter to provide further insights into my thoughts on Artificial Intelligence and Future of AI. Feel free to subscribe to my FREE newsletter to get my thoughts “fresh & hot”!
