Highlights of the
week:
For more career opportunities
from various industries, please access Career Axis. Dear Students, Thanks to the world of
retail, we can access a wide variety of products and services worldwide. But
beyond our experience as a shopper – the familiarity of paying for our
merchandise over the counter, or checking out items in our online store cart
– do we really know the wide spectrum of work available in the retail sector?
There’s truly more than meets the eye. TRENDS IN RETAIL
INDUSTRY Over the years, we
have seen huge developments in the retail industry as consumer behaviour change:
from brick-and-mortar stores to consumers being conversant with e-commerce,
where we are now almost too used to conveniently shopping from the comfort of
our homes. These changes have a direct impact on retail strategies and
operations, which in turn, affects the work of employees. With trendsetting
changes in the retail industry come new window of opportunities for the
creation, expansion, and transformation of jobs. The pool of job
opportunities will keep evolving to meet changing consumer demands. To thrive
in this dynamic setting, retailers and employees must be adept at responding
to these evolving trends. A CAREER IN RETAIL If you are thinking
repetitive tasks and customer service when anyone bring up “a career in
retail,” it’s time to put those stereotypes aside because the retail
industry is more than just being on the sales floor. There is a myriad of
roles available, and many jobs are constantly being transformed due to the
changing landscape of the sector. Various key objectives in retail, like
sales and profitability, product innovation, or customer connections, often
overlap with other function roles like the marketing, finance, technology,
merchandising, and management. Whether you are in the store or at the
corporate office; planning and logistics, internal coordination, store
operations, finance and administration, purchasing
and supply chain management, human resources and training, marketing, and
information technology are some of many career options to consider. To develop a career
beyond just a job, it is necessary to take on a role and join a company that
you are keen and passionate about. After all, passion is one of the key
ingredients to having a fulfilling career. It is the driving force that
propel your excitement and step ahead to work each day. So, how do you know
which role is right for you? Perhaps the guide below will help you discover
the options and areas that resonate with your interest. Source: Spotlight
