Dear Students,

The world we know is going through an unprecedented state of flux – geopolitical conflicts, trade tensions, digitalisation, new consumer habits, climate change and the ongoing COVID pandemic. Change is not new, but the pervasiveness, convergence and how quickly these changes are happening in a short time is quite a staggering phenomenon.

In the logistics sector, the integrity and resilience of global supply chains have been thrust to the forefront due to disruptions caused by the pandemic, trade wars and conflicts. The pandemic also reminded many governments how critical logistics capabilities are as an enabler of trade and industries.

Our workforce in #SGLogistics rose to the challenge and ensured that our essential supplies and commerce activities continued throughout this critical period with few interruptions. Many enterprises have responded by experimenting and transforming their business and operation processes to leverage digital transactions, analytics, automation, platform connectivity, IOT sensors, RPA, cloud services, AI-supported optimisation, and digital twins etc.

Existing jobs and new careers in #SGLogistics enterprises are evolving for us to operate in the new norm. Supply chains and multi-modal transportation are now configured for real-time monitoring and wired for pro-active intervention via integrated platforms and control towers. Alternative logistics options can be simulated in digital twins that are modelled to support dynamic data-driven decisions. In other words, orchestrating supply chains is fast becoming a norm - this will further reduce wastages and unnecessary movements, resulting in a greener and cleaner world.

Singapore is consistently ranked by the World bank as a top logistics hub in Asia with our unrivalled air and sea connectivity to the world and more importantly, a broad base of diversity in talent and capabilities working in more than 5,000 MNCs and local enterprises. The #SGLogistics community is also well placed to transform and lead as a Green Supply Chain Hub for the world.

A day in the life of a #SGLogistics professional is never boring as we create opportunities for businesses, and turn plans into reality for communities and families to thrive in.  Do you have what it takes?
