Dear Students,
Congratulatory greetings are in order for
our Graduating Class of 2022! And even if you’re not
among those who are graduating, read on as CAO will be lining up a series of
activities for you.
Trust that the years spent in university are often eventful and
filled with meaningful learning experiences for all. For the Graduating
batch, I hope that you have established strong friendships, and learnt wisdom
which you will bring on to the next phase of your life.
Taking that next step can be daunting to some, but then again,
time and tide wait for no man. The 20s are commonly associated with the time
for exploration and finding yourself – it should not be overlooked that this
is the most transformative period of your life. Listen to the Ted talk by
Clinical Psychologist Meg Jay as she deep dived into “why 30 is not the new 20” and it could give
you the extra motivation needed for your next step.

At the 2-day GradRecruit 2022 fair held last week, many
participating Professional Services firms such as BDO, Grant Thornton,
Nexia TS, RSM Stone Forest, Mazars, KPMG and EY had offered an array of
full-time job opportunities, and most of them are still open for
applications. If you have missed the fair, it is not too late to search for
available opportunities via GradRecruit’s excel
listing here or companies’
websites. Feel free to connect with me should you need any support. 😉

For students who still have several more runways with us, you
can start discovering your options by networking with more industry
professionals, alumni and your peers. Fret not as we
have a tentative calendar of events in the works.
CONSULTING AND
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
|
There is a strong hiring trend from the Big 4 accounting firms
right now. Moreover, with KPMG’s recent announcement on their 20% salary
hike for entry-level professional staff, opportunities at the Big 4 are now
even more attractive!
Based on the statistics of Graduating Class of 2021, more than
50% of NTU students who interned with the Big 4 secured full-time offers
with them. A good percentage of the rest had gone on to secure employment
in the Consulting or Banking and Finance industries post-graduation.
Keep a look out for upcoming recruitment activities from
various firms in the next semester and I will be sharing more details on
each of them closer to date!

Apart from these Consulting & Professional services
companies, Recruitment firms are actively hiring too. Talent acquisition
is a hot arena these days as many agencies are recruiting in-house
consultants to help build and manage their clients. If you are warm,
friendly, personable, and intuitive to people's needs, this can be an
interesting and fulfilling role for you.

HOSPITALITY, TOURISM
AND MICE
|
After two years of struggle with the pandemic, we are finally
starting to see the awakening of the Tourism and MICE industry as more
countries open up.
Just last week, witnessing a train of foreigners speaking
another language following a triangular yellow flag while waiting for their
turns to go around the Fountain of Wealth at Suntec City was a welcome
sight I never thought I would appreciate two years ago. 😊 Yes, the tourists are back!
Along with the rebounding of tourism activities, Formula 1
Singapore Grand Prix is also making its grand return this year. As one
of the largest tourism event in Singapore, be sure
to expect many internship offers from Singapore GP. Similarly, hotels and
attractions will start opening up more
opportunities to handle the bustling activities to come, as can be seen
with Marina Bay Sands conducting their Walk-In Career Fair on 30 & 31
May 2022. If the hospitality, tourism and MICE
industry is attractive to you, do explore doing some of such internships
that can provide you with more insights into the arena.

How can one keep themself enthused while on a job? Believe it or
not – a little laughter and humour can also go a long way too. Here’s why great leaders take humour
seriously – it “turns out that humour is a teachable skill, and one of
the most underappreciated assets at work”. Check out how to inject humour to
your career and work-life because it can matter!
Connect with me and I will tell you more stories if you have the
time to listen! 😊
