Highlights of the
week:
For more career
opportunities from various industries, please access Career Axis. Dear Students, Finally… the days of mugging ends
tomorrow! May all your efforts for the exams be crowned with the very best of
success as you embrace the beginning of your winter vacation. Wrapping up Semester 1, we witnessed various
recruitment events, career fairs, and alumni sharing on campus. Possibly the
greatest takeaway from such career events would be the networking sessions
with employers that provide students with greater insights into the industry
and available job opportunities. Much thanks to all your support, I would
like to highlight two of such events that were warmly received this semester:
1.
Dialogue U n I on
Consumer Business & eCommerce Sharing Session (DUICBECSS) DUICBECSS gathered 7 alumni from Unilever, Estee Lauder, P&G, Dairy
Farm Group, Love Bonito, Shopee, and L'Oréal from the FMCG & eCommerce sector
on 30 Aug 2022. Our 7 alumni came together for a dialogue sharing session
aimed to help aspiring students make well-informed career decisions through a
better understanding of the sector. Thanks to the generous sharing from our
alumni, 60 students were able to gain greater insights on the various
participating companies’ programmes, application process, assessment centre’s
tips for preparation, employers’ expectations, and more. Most importantly, it
gave both students and industry partners the chance to forge mentorship
connectivity for opportunities down the road. 2.
What's In For You in Media
& Marketing Industry (WIFUMM) In collaboration with our industry
partners and panelists from Dentsu, Mediacorp-CNA938, Synthesis, Publicis
Groupe, and Gram, WIFUMM was successfully held on 22 Sep 2022 at HSS
Auditorium and Foyer. The event was joined by over 70 participants, coming
from diverse disciplines, cohorts, and degree types. Nothing beats the
face-to-face, personal greetings, and friendly encounters on site as compared
to those virtual-only days. Through the engaging dialogue session, our
panelists answered queries and debunked myths on the industry, emerging
trends/skills, employers' expectations, job opportunities, and students'
employability. Following that session in Oct 2022, WIFUMM also extended
attendees a chance to attend an in-demand skills sharing session in
partnership with Mediacorp-CNA938 and Synthesis, together with Wee Kee Wee
School of Communication and Information and School of Physical &
Mathematical Sciences, bringing authentic learning to NTU students. If you are interested to join the next DUICBECSS
and WIFUMM, keep an eye on future publicity coming to you in AY23-24’s
Semester 1! Get an edge over your job search process
by actively participating in career events. On top of that, platforms such as
CareerAxis portal will be
especially useful for the graduating students who are gearing up to look for
a job. Remember, do not screen yourself out by thinking that the opening(s)
might be too challenging or even futile for you to attempt applying. Take on
a ‘Just do it’ mindset like Nike’s tagline and go for it so long you
have the passion and interest for the role and company. Sometimes,
overthinking might do more harm than you could ever imagine as it curbs your
chances or even stops you from trying to gain entry to your dream job or
company, and… the regrets of ‘if only I have tried’. There is a saying, ‘Everything in
your life is a reflection of choices you have made.
If you want a different result, make a different choice.’ STAY UP-TO-SPEED Check out the event, jobs, and additional resources highlights
and take proactive actions to achieve your success sooner:
