Dear Students, Let me introduce myself, I am Koo Ping Shung.
Besides my day-time job as a trainer, mentor, and consultant in the field of
Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, I had co-founded AI Professionals
Association (AIP) and run tech communities here in Singapore. Through the tech communities, I get to interact a lot with
passionate talents and hiring managers who are looking to develop their Data
and Artificial Intelligence capabilities. Despite the tremendous amount of
training available out there, I often get the following question from
passionate talents, “How do I know if I have learned enough to start a job
in Data Science/Artificial Intelligence?” and likewise from hiring
managers, especially if they are very new to the field, “How do I know if a
candidate is adequately skilled and knowledgeable for the job?” To match them up, AIP adapted and developed Chartered
AI Engineer (CAIE), a professional qualification that can answer the above
questions from both passionate individual and hiring managers. How? CAIE is a professional qualification that is accredited by
fellow practitioners. AIP publishes the assessment rubrics for each level.
The rubrics have been shared and have received very good feedback from both
experienced professionals and hiring managers. On one hand, individuals who use the published rubrics can check
to see if they are adequately skilled and knowledgeable. Moreover, it also
helps determine the areas where one can further supplement their skills
before applying to be a Chartered AI Engineer. The assessment process is
overseen by industry practitioners and candidates are assessed by experienced
practitioners and/or existing hiring managers who may be looking to hire. As for hiring managers who are new to the field, they may refer
to the assessment rubrics and be assured that the candidate that they are
looking to hire, if accredited, will have the skills and knowledge equivalent
to the published assessment rubrics. They can proceed to interview the
candidate based on other requirements such as team-culture fit etc. rather
than conducting technical tests. Are you looking to join the Data Science and Artificial
Intelligence field and find yourself asking similar questions such as, “am I
up for a job in Data Science/Artificial Intelligence?” To find out more about what we do, the levels of AI career
profiles and mor, read up more via our Chartered AI Engineer Handbook! |
