Introduction to the service

This service enables lecturers to request for videos in the Library or CED collection to be digitised and stored on the server. These videos can then be viewed on PCs located in the LTs or any networked PC on the campus without having to borrow the physical item from the Library or CED.

How to access

  1. VOD is available on campus only. You cannot view VOD through remote dialling into NTU from home PC via a modem line.
  2. The Windows Media Player must be version 6.4 and above.

  3. Access method:
  1. Via Title Listing in this site:
    1. Click on the Title Listing section.
    2. From the table of contents, double-click on the title you like to watch. Media Player will launch automatically.
  2. Via OPAC:
    1. Enter a search, for example, Immigrants Story and vod. Under "search for keywords(s) in", click on keyword.
(To see the complete list of VOD titles on the server, simply put vod as your keyword. Under "by material type" select "Audio Visual" from the drop-down menu, and click on keyword.)
    2. From the display of records, click on the electronic access link "Click here to launch via VOD" of the relevant record to launch video. The digitised title will be launched.
  1. If your PC prompts you to upgrade the player, you may choose to ignore the message or upgrade your player.

Request form

A request form needs to be completed in order for a video to be digitised and made available on the server. Please note that only NTU lecturers are allowed to make these requests for teaching purposes on the campus.
