You may apply using our prescribed application form or electronically

to Apply".

I apply on-line, how do I submit the supporting documents?
You should post your supporting documents and application fee (if you
are paying by bank draft) to the following address:

How
do I know whether my on-line application has been received by NTU?
Your on-line application is received by NTU if you receive a computer
generated application number.
When is the closing date
for application?
The closing date for submission of application to academic year 2003-04
is 31 December 2002 except for applicants with STPM or GCE 'A'
Level qualification where the closing date is 1 April 2003.
How do I pay my application
fee?
The application fee of S$20.00 or US$15.00 should be submitted in the
form of a bank draft made payable to "Nanyang Technological University".
Credit card payment facility is available only for application submitted
through our website.
My high school examination results
are not available yet. Can I apply now?
You may submit your application before the closing date for application
if you're in your 12th grade and your final results will be available
by June 2003. Upon the release of your high school results, please fax
to International Students Unit at (65) 6794-6510.
I
am currently pursuing a degree course in a university. Can I transfer
my credits to NTU or be given subject exemption?
NTU does not accept credit transfer or allow subject exemption from overseas.
If successful, all international students will be admitted to the first
year of study.

What
are the special subject requirements for admission?
Students applying for Engineering and Computer Engineering course must
have Mathematics and Physics taken at high school examinations. Those
interested in gaining admission to the Materials Engineering course may
offer Chemistry in place of Physics. For Biological Sciences, students
may offer Chemistry or Physics or Biology in addition to Mathematics.
Are TOEFL/IELTS/SATS necessary?
These qualifications are not compulsory but will be useful in evaluating
your proficiency for English and eligibility for admission.
What is the minimum
grade for admission?
We are unable to provide the information as admission is based on competition
among all eligible candidates. Generally, students are expected to possess
good results in their respective high school examinations.
What is Qualifying English
Test?
The Qualifying English Test (QET) is taken only after enrolment in NTU.
The test would determine whether students must take the English Proficiency
course as a subject of study in NTU.
ENTRANCE
EXAMINATION
Am
I required to take the entrance examination?
The Selection Committee may require some applicants to take an entrance
examination before they can be considered for admission. Candidates will
be notified if they are required to take the examinations.
Students who have won recognition
in international competitions such as International Olympiads may be exempted
from the examinations.
What
are the subjects to be taken?
Candidates applying for the Engineering based courses must take the examination
in English, Mathematics and Physics.
Candidates applying for Business/Accountancy/Communication
Studies courses may take Business paper in lieu of Physics.
Where can I take the entrance
examination?
NTU will conduct the entrance examination in the following countries from
February to May 2003.

Shortlisted candidates will be informed
of the detailed syllabus and the exact date of examination by the end
of March 2003.
Do I have to pay any fees for
the entrance examination?
No payment is required to take the entrance examination. However in the
application for admission, candidates will have to submit a fee of S$20.00
or US$15.

Academic Year 2003-04 will commence on the Monday of the third week of

?
NTU has only 1 intake per year in July.

How
much is the tuition fee per year?
The amount of fees payable by foreign students in Academic Year 2002-03
is S$6220. You may check for currency conversion at http://www.oanda.com.
This is the net amount after deduction of the Tuition Grant from the Singapore
Ministry of Education.
What is Tuition Grant and conditions
of award?
To offset the high rates of full tuition fees, the Government through
Ministry of Education provides Tuition Grant to all students who gain
admission to the University. In return for the high subsidy given by the
Ministry of Education, all international students are required to work
in Singapore for three years upon graduation to discharge some of their
obligations to the Singapore tax-payers.

What
are the financial schemes available? NTU has attractive
financial schemes for foreign students such as scholarships and loans.

How
do I apply for the scholarships? Scholarships are only available to candidates with outstanding
academic results and extra-curricular activities. NTU will identify outstanding
candidates for consideration and interview for the scholarships.

What
are the chances of me getting the Tuition Fee Loan?
All students admitted to NTU for a course of study should have no problem
getting the Tuition Fee Loan, which covers 80% of the tuition fee payable
by students. The loan covers the whole duration of the course and students
need to apply for the loan only once. The Tuition Fee Loan scheme is administered
by banks, which are appointed as agents by the University.
How
do I apply for the NTU Study Loan?
Upon being offered admission, details on the NTU Study Loan and the application
form will be forwarded to you. Please note that unlike the Tuition Fee
Loan, the NTU Study Loan is awarded only to students with financial difficulties.
When
must I pay the tuition fee?
The tuition fee is payable in two instalments; once in each semester as
follows:
