Seeing the Sights
Singapore in a couple of days
Here some recommendations on what you and
your visiting family and friends should see before leaving Singapore:
- Night Safari there is nothing like it anywhere else and a good option for
those who are leaving late that evening (luggage can be stored there)
- Little India (if you havent been to India) the smells and colours are
amazing
- China Town nice architecture and cheap clothes from China
- Botanical Gardens,
Mac Ritchie Reservoir, Pulau Ubin,
and/or Bukit Timah
depending on how much you like the outdoors
- A taste of local
hawker fare and a walk through the shops and
wet markets at Jurong West HDBs (at Nanyang CC)
- Riverside Walk on Clarke and Boat Quay, Fullerton with Merlion,
City Hall area with government buildings and commemorative places, the
Esplanade and a Singaporean Sling at Raffles Hotel a colonial history
walk with a fruity refreshment at the end
- Jurong Bird Park the shows are great and it is close
- A Singaporean play gives good insights into local issues, great talent here
For shopping:
- Sim Lim Square - for electronics computer related, video and picture
cameras, hi-fi
- Orchard Road - for clothes, department store items, luxury items
- Mustafa - for goods from all regions of India, gold and household
items, souvenirs, it is huge
- Arab Street for goods from S.E. Asia and array of cloths
- Holland Village for stores selling gift items from S.E. Asia and clothes for
larger sizes
