What’s going on in Reflections
on our 4D3N eco-adventure trip to Taman
Negara, Pahang, It was a good trip. I had lots of fun, mingled amidst lots of
perspiration! I particularly liked the caving experience. And while I had
initially contemplated about chickening out (since the opening was so small
and I kind of thought it can accommodate only a cat!), I am glad I went
through it. The ‘swimming’ was fun too! Cool water which is so refreshing on
a hot day. Most importantly, I have made great new friends and we have even
made plans to go for more of such trips in future! (Lee
Wei Wei, NIE) It was a good trip. Nice scenery and good weather for the
outdoors. A pity the effective itinerary took place over only two days;
perhaps it would have been more ideal had it stretched over three days.
Nonetheless, I am looking forward to the next one! (Jerome Mak) The river boat rides along the two
different rivers (see picture for the confluence of the two rivers, Sungei
Tembeling and Tahan) through the pristine forest were fabulous. One can
feel the timelessness and closeness to nature with its beauty, silence and
stillness. It’s as if one is gliding through a picturesque scene
surrounded by nature. (Kwah Poh Foong, NIE) II have wanted to visit Taman Negara for the last ten
years since my daughter's school trip there. When she returned home
she asked me to promise her that I would go there too one
day because it was so beautiful. I must agree with
her that Taman Negara indeed did not disappoint.
We experienced: towering ancient trees, fun-filled boat rides, a
dark and narrow cave, a canopy walk not for faint-hearted, the
hospitality of the Orang Asli, and much more. It was a short, but
memorable trip. (Mrs.Izabella Sluzek) Long boat ride on the river Confluence of the two rivers, Tembeling and Tahan

The whole group at the Entrance to the 15
people comprising of some SRC club members with their families and some
non-members made that unforgettable trip to see the world heritage, the
magnificient Mulu caves. Trekking the
3km to the Lang’s & Deer caves were made easier with plank walks and
cemented foot paths, even inside the caves, so even the adventurous 8-10 year
old can do it. The long boat ride
down the shallow river to the Wind and One must see the caves personally to
appreciate their beauty, awesomeness and spectacular unique features. Each of the four caves featured, Lang’s
Cave, For those of us who
had been there, we highly recommend that you put this trip in your future
agenda overseas trip. We share feedbacks from some of the
participants. “An unforgettable experience! Says Vivienne Chia
Woon Yuen, NIE. “Life has not been too good after our
trip to Mulu – still looking for my breakfast on a river bank filled with early
bird chirpings and the smell of yummy waffles! L Thank you all for your wonderful
companionship during the very memorable trip to Miri and Mulu – enjoyed the
jungle trekking, the visits to caves, the unexpected sights and sound in the
caves, the streaming of bats up in the sky, the invigorating fresh greenery
and musky woods, the long boat rides up and down a river in Sarawak, the
interesting conversations, the brief exploration of Miri, etc”. Assoc
Prof Koh Chong Lek, NIE. “After such high praises what else can
one say? But for me the nicest part is being able to enjoy nature with a group
of interesting people. I received tips on how to make hair shinny and soup
tasty and who knows, more trips and more activities in SRC (cooking lessons?
hair colouring sessions?) may arise from this trip!” Dr. Sam Choon Kook, NIE

underground rivers & exciting shapes, fresh air & abundant
greenery, breakfast by a peaceful river, friends..... Click Vivienne Chia’s,
