Conference Hotel

The conference will be held at a five-star Marina Mandarin hotel in the prime city area. The hotel has one of Southeast Asia's largest landscaped Atriums with life singing birds, swimming pool, tennis courts, sauna and jacuzzi and other guest services. Deluxe hotel rooms booked for the conference participants have individual private balconies with beautiful views of Marina Bay or the City skyline. The rooms are well equipped and connected to the Internet. The conference sessions venue is Marina Mandarin ballroom and tutorial rooms at level 1. The conference lunches and banquet will be held in Marina Mandarin Les Oiseaux restaurant (Level 5). There will be an entertainment program during the banquet.

  • Jurong bird park and Jurong Reptile park (two places are one opposite another, 20 min by taxi from the hotel)
  • Singapore zoo (20 min by taxi)
  • Night safari (20 min by taxi, go there around 8-9 pm)
  • Sentosa - Singapore's resort island  (15 min by taxi)
    Best place for swimming there is at Tanjong Beach (ask taxi driver to drive you straight to the Tanjong Beach parking place, near Dolphin Lagoon)

Currency Exchange

Do not exchange more than for a taxi ride (~S$20) at Changi airport--the exchange rate is low there. The conference hotel is surrounded by shopping centres, and the nearest--Marina Square Shopping Mall--is adjoining it. You can find exchange booths there as well as in other shopping centres across the road (Suntec City Mall, Millenia Walk). The shops open at ~10am and close at 10pm.

Nanyang Technological University

Visit the Virtual Campus of NTU: a multi-user virtual community where you can travel in the campus and meet local students as well as visitors from other countries. The University campus is about 30 min drive from the conference hotel. There will be a site-visit to NTU on Saturday morning.
