Web Design and Management |
| |
Completed FYP projects will include a detailed rationale for the Website, site map, competitive analysis, promotional strategy, budget, implementation timeline and results of usability study / user testing.
If hosting FYP web design projects on SCI web servers is required, students must work with their supervisor to propose a reasonable space. The duration of hosting can commence anytime during the final year project with the approval of the supervisor. Projects will be removed from the server after the May 15th deadline for archiving materials.
We support the following on the webserver:
| 1 |
Windows OS |
| 2 |
IIS webserver |
| 3 |
ASP.NET, ASP and Javascripting |
| 4 |
Access database |
No ODBC connections to database. Only stateless connections.
If you require licensed software other than the above to be installed on the web server, students will need to purchase it.
Students will not be allowed to use FTP to access the web folders. They have to use the school network using their accounts or the virtual private network (VPN) to access the web server outside the NTU network.
Moderation Submission
For evaluation and grading, the students will submit three copies of their project and written report for evaluation.
Each written summary must be presented in ring binding with clear, plastic cover and card stock backing.
The minimum number of pages for the written summary should not exceed 30 pages, minus appendices.
The website needs to be presented on a CD-ROM in addition to providing the URL for the moderators and supervisor. The system requirements must be clearly indicated on the CD-ROM cover along with the title of the project and group members' names. Your graders will primarily access the URL to view the project, the CD allow them to view the inner structure of the web site or use it as a secondary source should there be technical difficulties with accessing the URL.
Additionally, the producers must obtain copyright permission for any non-original material included in the program as well as any needed interview, performance or location permission releases, if appropriate. These forms should be included in the final report submitted to the moderators and to SCI.
The students hold the copyright for their projects and the copyright information within the body of the program and on the packaging should clearly indicate this (i.e. © student(s) name, 2006). The students must also include the NTU logo and the following acknowledgement (at the end of the project as well as on the packaging) that reads:
"This work was produced as final-year project in the School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore."
Any press materials about the project should also include
the above acknowledgements. The NTU
logo is available at SCI's FYP website.

Archival Submissions
A soft copy of the final written summary will be handed in to the School's resource library in accordance with specifications determined by the FYP committee. The deadline for archival submissions is listed at the SCI website on the FYP calendar. All appendices, release forms, and permissions must be scanned and included in the softcopy reports.
