  Introduction
The Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI) will offer a second major from AY2005-2006 to students enrolled in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS). It will include students admitted in 2004. The objective of the programme is to provide HSS students with the opportunity to graduate with a double major in communications within the duration of their 4-year course.

  Admission
HSS students who have a GPA of at least 4.0 and have fulfilled at least 75% of the AUs recommended at the appropriate level (eg., 15 AUs completed in the first year if 20 are recommended), may apply to do a major in Communication from their second year.

They must also meet the same admission criteria that SCI imposes on its own students.

  Curriculum Requirements of the Second Major

SCI offers a second Major in Communication Studies to HSS students under the
Double Major Programmes.

A minimum of 50 AUs shall constitute a second Major in Communication Studies and may
be obtained over a duration of the student's respective degree course. To fulfill
this requirement, the student must take nine electives from five different groups
in addition to four compulsory electives as listed below.

  Award of Double Major
Students will graduate with a bachelor's degree in their first major. The second major will not be reflected in the degree scroll itself but it will be shown on the final transcript.

  Continuation of CS as second MAJOR from OLD to NEW curriculum
Students who have started with the second Major in CS in AY2006-2007 may transfer the AUs earned and continue with the electives from the new curriculum. A minimum of 50 AUs shall constitute a second Major in CS in the new curriculum and students are to follow the new Curriculum Structure from AY2007-2008.
A mapping of the old to the new electives is shown below. Students are not allowed to take electives from the new curriculum which are correspondingly mapped as follows if they have passed any of them.
