Visiting Scholars

Visiting Scholar's Programme

The SiRC Visiting Scholars Programme supports research by individuals who are undertaking research projects related to information technology in Asia, especially Singapore. It is open to practicing scholars or advanced graduate students. The Programme is for a minimum of one month up to a maximum of two semesters.

Qualifications
Applicants should have completed graduate studies and preferably be teaching at a university or be at an advanced stage of graduate school.
The topic of research is open, but should represent innovative and original research related to information and communication technology in Asia, and should reflect the research foci of the SIRC (available at http://www.ntu.edu.sg/sci/sirc/index.html).

Terms
Appointment as a Visiting Scholar is non-stipendiary.

Visiting Scholars will be provided with office space, a computer with internet access, and some administrative support in telecommunications, printing and photocopying. Access will also be given to the University's library facilities.

Visiting Scholars are expected to:

  • Make a research presentation about their project to the faculty and graduate students of the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information.
  • Acknowledge SIRC's contribution in publications arising from the research undertaken at SIRC.
  • Upon completion of the fellowship, provide to the SIRC a short summary of the research objectives and findings for records and posting to the SIRC website (approximately 1000 words).
  • Be available for consultation with SIRC faculty or students with relevant interests.

To apply, please submit the following information:

  1. Curriculum Vitae.
  2. A scholarly paper you have written.
  3. Statement describing your interest and intended research area while with us (4-5 pages).
  4. The contact details of two referees.
