(I) NTU Research Scholarships for Research Programmes

You are eligible for this scholarship if you are a local or international student seeking admission as a full-time candidate pursuing Masters research or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programme at Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information.

Eligibility criteria
  • You must have a First Class Honours or Second Class (Upper Division) Honours or its equivalent
  • You should not be on paid employment or accept paid employment or concurrently hold any other scholarship, fellowship, bursary or top-up allowance during the prescribed period of the award
Coverage
  • The award is tenable for one year in the first instance and is renewable subject to good progress.
  • The monthly stipends for Masters research students are S$1,500, and for Ph.D students are S$2,000. For students who pass the Ph.D. Qualifying Examination/Confirmation, the stipend may be increased to $2,500, subject to good performance in research and the attainment of required standards for courses taken.
  • In addition to the monthly stipend, the award also covers the annual research fee and the annual computer fee.
  • The maximum period of the award is up to two years for Masters candidates, up to four years for Ph.D. candidates, subject to good performance and progress, as well as availability of research funding.
Bond

There is no bond attached to the scholarship.

Application procedure

You can apply for this scholarship when you are filling in your application form. Complete the “Application for Scholarship” section in your application form. There is no separate form for application for scholarship, as the scholarship option is found in the admission application form.

Research work and duties

  • You must undertake to carry out research work as directed by the School.
  • Upon your confirmation of PhD candidature, you will be required to assist your School in teaching duties for three hours a week. 
  • In addition, the School will appoint you to assist in academic or administration work not exceeding 10 hours of work per week.

(III) Graduate Scholarships for Master’s Coursework Programmes


ASEAN Graduate Scholarship 
This scholarship is open to nationals of member countries of ASEAN* (except Singapore) to pursue a designated full-time Masters degree by coursework and dissertation at NTU.
* ASEAN or the Association of Southeast Asian Nations consists of Brunei Darrussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Eligibility criteria

  • Only applicants from ASEAN countries are eligible to apply. Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents are not eligible to apply
  • Excellent academic record
  • A very good command of the English language
  • At least 2 years of working experience
  • You should not be on paid employment or accept paid employment or concurrently hold any other scholarship, fellowship, bursary or top-up allowance during the prescribed period of the award

Bond

There is no bond attached to the scholarship. No deferment of scholarship awarded will be allowed. Awards that are not taken up will be given to other qualified candidates.

Coverage

Each scholarship is tenable for a period of 1 year only for M.Sc. and M.Mass Communication programmes.
Each scholarship shall cover the following:

  • Monthly stipend of S$1,350.00
  • Book allowance of S$500.00
  • Tuition fee, health insurance, examination fee and other approved fees, allowances and expenses
  • Cost of one overseas Business Study Mission (for MBA candidates only) undertaken within the tenable period of the scholarship
  • Cost of travel from home country to Singapore on award of the scholarship
  • Cost of travel from Singapore to home country on successful completion of the Masters degree within the tenable period of the scholarship

Application procedure

Open in November and close in December each year.
