Prof. Eddie C Y Kuo (PhD, Minnesota) is Professor and Founding Dean (1992-2003) of the School of Communication and Information at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, and a former member of NTU Council (2003-06). He is currently Interim Executive Director of the Singapore Internet Research Centre (SiRC). In 2003-2006, he served as (founding) Interim Dean of the new School of Humanities & Social Sciences at NTU, where he also holds a post of professor of sociology. Before joining NTU, Prof Kuo had served as Head of Sociology Department, Director of the Centre for Advanced Studies, and Head of Mass Communication Department at the National University of Singapore. |

Active in public and social services, Prof Kuo was conferred the Public Service Medal (PBM), by the President of the Republic of Singapore in 1997, and again the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2001. He serves as Chair of the Research and Development Panel, National Arts Council (NAC) Singapore, as well as Chair of the Panel of Advisors of Chinese Library Services of the National Library Board (NLB) Singapore. He is on the Board of Trustees of the Chinese Journalism Fund. |
