Research interests

ˇ  Bioinformatics
Recent advances in large-scale DNA expression measurements and proteomics technologies have opened the opportunity for massively parallel biological data acquisition and thus have shifted our attention towards an integrated understanding of the genetic networks underlying complex biological phenotypes. My research interest in this area focus on developing statistical methods to identify differentially expressed genes for both cDNA microarray experiments and high density oligo-nucleotide microarray experiments;developing model-based and other novel approaches related to microarray data analysis; developing computational and visualization tools to analyze biological pathways and gene regulating networks and developing novel tools and algorithms for DNA and protein sequence analysis.

ˇ  Statistical Genetics
linkage and association studies represent two types of research designs that geneticists commonly use to locate disease genes. We will focus on developing statistical methods and computer programs for both linkage and association study designs. Another interesting field is to develop the statistical and computing tools to analyze human chromosome nondisjunction, such as trisomy and uniparental disomy, which results in several common genetic diseases.

ˇ  Mathematical Modeling in the Biology
Focus on evolutionary game dynamics.
