Maria Carmencita S. Morales
Maria Carmencita Morales is Associate Research Fellow with the Centre for Non-Traditional Security (NTS) Studies at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
Maria Carmencita holds a Master in Public Policy with a specialisation in Economic Policy and Analysis (2012) from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Singapore. She also has an MA in Political Economy with a specialisation in International Relations and Development (2006) and a BA in Humanities (2004) from the University of Asia and the Pacific.
Her research interests include issues related to food security, rural development and trade facilitation with a focus on agricultural commodities. Prior to joining the Centre, she served as Consultant (Investment Climate Analyst) for the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Manila where she helped prepare the pre-implementation and implementation plan for the improvement of the Philippine agricultural sector’s competitiveness. Aside from this, she worked as a Project Development Officer and Trade Desk Officer for the Philippines’ Department of Agriculture (2006–2011) where she conducted policy analyses on areas such as agricultural credit, trade and investment.
