About the National Infocomm Competition

National Infocomm Competition

The National Infocomm Competition is a multi-themed inter-school challenge created to uncover top infocomm talent in Singapore. Divided into three circuits - secondary schools, junior colleges and ITE/polytechnics – the competition will encompass challenges focused on areas such as business IT, digital media, mobile technology, security & networking and more. What?
virtualXgame (VXG) uses a battling game application (Eclipse IDE), where you command a group of virtual combatants by programming them with the best mix of characteristics and strategies. Your combatants will engage in a series if battles, and compete for virtual supremacy with other commanders’ troops. Over S$12,000 worth of prizes to be won! Challenge last year’s winners and bring home the challenge cup this year!

Who?
VXG is open to all JC, Poly and ITE students, competing in the JC circuit and Poly/ITE circuit respectively. Each JC is allowed to send one team comprising a coach/teacher, and maximum of 3 students. Each Poly/ITE is allowed to send two teams, each comprising a coach/teacher, and maximum of 3 students.

How?
Main registration is now open from 5 September to 1 October 2007. Online registration.

NTU will be releasing the game information and training manual on 5 September 2007 during the contestant briefing, as well as on VXG’s website. In addition, VXG will set up a online discussion board from 6 to 16 September 2007, where VXG contest director will answer queries on the game. Participants are strongly encouraged to take part in the forum discussion.

The contestant briefing will be held on 5 September 2007 at Civil Service College. More details will be sent via email closer to the date of briefing.
