Why do I get a blank printout?

If you are printing an Adobe Acrobat file (.pdf), use Adobe Reader's printer icon on the document. Do not print from file or icon provided by IE browser. Sometimes when you print from the web-browser, the html scripts do not fit onto the A4 paper. Hence, it will get printed on a separate sheet of paper.

How do I fit my document to an A4 size sheet?

The page setup of your document may be "legal-size" (longer than A4). Therefore, the bottom of the page is cropped if printed on A4. At the menu bar, go to File and select Print. Click on Properties to select "Fit to Page" and change your paper size to A4.

Can I print my document on both sides of the paper (duplex printing) or 4 pages of document onto 1 page of printout?

Yes, go to the menu bar and select File\Print\Properties. At the "Layout" tab, check "flip on long side". The HP Laserjet printer driver supports 2-up, 4-up and 6-up for MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. Printing of 2-up, etc. from Adobe Acrobat's PDF file is not supported.

Why is my print job not shown on the Print Release Station?

If you have a relatively large document, spooling of the print job will take a longer time. You may confirm the status of the spool job at the Print-Server monitor.

Why does it take so long to print?

You may have paid for your print job and a pop-up window informs you that the job is being printed. However, the printer is not printing and there is no sign of any jobs being processed. Please check the status of your spool job at the Print Server Station. You have probably sent a large file for printing and the server is still spooling the print job. When printing MS PowerPoint slides, etc. from EdveNTUre, spooling of print job may take awhile during peak hours when many students are accessing EdveNTUre. You may want to download the file to the local drive (temporary D drive or E drive) and print from the local drive.

Is there time-out for collecting my print job?

All print jobs must be collected on the same day. Print jobs that are not claimed or cleared will be purged at the end of each day.

How do I cancel my print job?

At the PC, go to the default printer and delete your document from the queue. You must login to your account to delete jobs sent by yourself. You may also delete your print job from the PC at the Printing Room. Enter your ID and instead of printing, you may choose to delete any specified print job.

What are the charges for printing?

It is 5 cents per page regardless of whether you choose to print on both sides or 2 pages on 1 side. For colour printing, it is 65 cents per page.

Where do I get assistance?

The same vendor for photocopy service operates the printing service. If there is no one to assist you at the printing area, approach the photocopy service staff at the respective library.
