This year saw the expansion of our society from a ‘small’ chapter to a ‘big’ one with the infusion of new blood. Through active recruitment, special interest seminars and student organized activities, we doubled our numbers from 9 to 18 (with a few more just about ready to sign on the dotted line). Interestingly most of our members come from a non-optics engineering background but our paths one way or the other have led us electrical engineers to specialize in optics. At present we are the only OSA student chapter in South East Asia and our members hail from a variety of Asian countries; China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Malaysia and Singapore.
